Darling of the Day - Oondatje Wing Theatre - National Portrait Gallery

Darling of the Day (1968)

Cristín will be playing the role of Rosie in Jules Styne and E.Y Harburgs "Darling of the Day" part of the lost musicals series at the Oondatje Wing Theatre- National Portrait Gallery. Directed by Ian - Marshall Fisher with Musical direction by Mark Warman. See info below.

Based on Arnold Bennett's Buried Alive, Styne (of Gypsy & Funny Girl), Harburg (of Finian's Rainbow & film The Wizard Of Oz) and Johnson (of films The Grapes Of Wrath & Roxie Hart) adapted this story of a celebrated artist, yearning for anonymity. He fakes his own death and assumes his valet's identity but carries on painting - which means that his art mysteriously keeps reappearing, and then, in this musical satire, the high born artist meets a working-class woman.
